A BRIEF HISTORY of Popular Casino Games
There are currently an estimated Eighty-two million individuals who regularly play casino games in the United States. Individuals can choose from a number of casino games to entertain themselves and friends. There are three main categories of casino games: gambling games, card games, and table games. Each category requires its own group of rules and specific mechanisms to be played.
Gambling games were created for providing fun and excitement through chance and luck. Popular casino games that belong to this category include blackjack, baccarat, slot machines, roulette, video poker, craps, instant lotto, poker, roulette, and jackpot games. Casino game table games include card tables, casino table games such as slots and roulette, and other table games such as jokers and card games. Card games include poker, craps, and baccarat.
Slots, also known as “rollers,” are mechanical devices offering the illusion of randomness in casino games and card games. They work in much the same way as slots machines within land-based casinos. The advantage of using slots is that the home edge of all spins is low, making it profitable for casinos to utilize them. However, the disadvantage of using slots is that they are difficult to beat, despite having a large bankroll. Furthermore, it is often difficult to know whether a machine is “full” or “bust out” before the game begins, leading to casino games which are less fun to play.
